Description:
Angoville-Au-Plain Church, where 2nd Battalion, 501 PIR medics Kenneth Moore and Robert Wright treated eighty wounded American and German troops and one French child for three days without relief. They lost only three of their charges. Note the young tree in the foreground - it replaced a comrade of the large tree in the background, which died of lead poisoning some years ago! - a testimony to the ferocious fighting around the church during the first three days of the invasion. This image has been converted to monochrome in Photoshop CS3 Camera: Canon 1Ds MkII + 16-35mm (18mm)f2.8 L II lens Exposure: 1/4000 @ f2.8 ISO 200
